Windows 10 isn’t supported on the XPS 420. It's the same way all the DACs work that many audio fans boast about. The Sound Blaster SB0770 is the only PCI card with the necessary chip to work like this. If you want to use this sound card just because it sounds better than the motherboard's built-in chip, and you are not very interested in the special functions of this card, uninstall and delete any remaining drivers and install the generic high definition sound driver. For example: after playing a video game with OpenAL, the sound card control panel will be unable to switch from entertainment mode to music creation or game mode. This is a specific issue with Creative support. However, keep in mind that the OpenAL and CMSS-3D functions are not stable or fully functional.
If you want that card to work with all its features, certainly the best option is the WDM driver package from Daniel_K. If you upgraded your system to Windows 10, even the most current X-Fi series drivers will have problems.
